Summer Wardrobe

I am someone who loves to layer. I have always felt like a jacket, scarf, or sweater completes an outfit and pulls everything together in a special way. That is why I used to hate the summer time, because it is too warm to layer up. I always found it challenging to look chic while still being comfortable and staying cool. That all changed when I moved to Los Angeles. After a few weeks of people watching, I realized that is absolutely possible to put together a polished outfit with just a few pieces.

I have a passion for denim. It truly holds a special place in my heart. During the summer if I am going to wear jeans I prefer to wear a looser fitting style because I find them to be cooler and more comfortable on hot days. I am currently obsessed with these new Awesome Baggies from One Teaspoon:

I also love to wear white denim in the summer, because it looks fresh and highlights my tan. I love the distress on this pair from One Teaspoon. The zipper details on the ankles also give them an edge.

Obviously during the summer you can not go wrong with the perfect jean shorts or skirts. They are ESSENTIAL.

In the summer, I always start with the perfect denim bottoms and then build up. I have learned that they key to putting together a polished look in the summer is picking statement tops with unique details. I like to pick tops with intricate details such as lace or ruffles, that are made out of airy, breathable fabric. They are so romantic. I also tend to stick with more neutral colors during the summer that transition easily from day to night.

The final component of my summer wardrobe is jewelry. Instead of topping off an outfit with a jacket, I like to layer several beaded necklaces or bracelets to give my look a little extra something.

Hope this helps you all stay cool, comfortable, and chic this summer!
