Autumn is around the corner, and whether you like it or not,
that means school is on the way.
As for me, I can’t wait for fall this year as a new college freshman, and I couldn’t be more excited, or nervous. What do college students tote with them to their new home? What do they wear? Before the panic could set in, I began my search for the perfect college wardrobe and was pleasantly surprised. College students don’t need to look any farther than Lex & Lynne for their college necessities. These are just a few of my favorite outfits from the new fall line, as well as the most vital of college essentials that can be found right in the store.
Every college student needs a good set of pajamas. We paired this black Sloane & Tate tank and LNA shorts to make an adorable PJ set that is soft and comfortable. If you are feeling especially chilly one winter night, feel free to grab our new Faribault throws and vests. I loved this vest because it was like huge adorable blanket that stays wrapped around your body. Reaching almost all the way to the floor, the vest could also double as a blanket and can lay folded on the edge of your bed to give your dorm room that cozy feel.
Right off the bat, this simple sweatshirt and jean short outfit is perfect for the fall. For those in between months where you can’t decide if it’s chilly or warm, mix and match! Pair shorts with long sleeves, or a tank top with some good jeans. The LNA sweatshirt is such a unique piece, with bold bright blues that can really make your eyes pop. It is cozy and comfortable, while the ombre and splatter paint provides an edgy twist. And I love these denim shorts, a classic college essential, because they have a casual distressed feel. They are long enough for easy movement without being an awkward length. The great thing about denim is you can wear them with anything.
We also paired the distressed-denim with LNA's signature distressed tee for a very casual look. I love this top because it is a simple color and pulls its uniqueness from the cut of its neck line, which means it can be worn with just about any bottom.
Any college student on the east coast knows that winter is no joking matter. You need sturdy, reliable, warm coats to protect you from the cold. Unfortunately, this means sometimes we have to sacrifice beauty for dependability. However, with the coats at Lex & Lynne you don’t have to make that horrible choice. Our coats are fashionable and durable, the perfect combination for those of us trying to make it through winter in style. This army-green vest from Velvet by Graham and Spencer is perfect for the chilly months. Because it is sleeveless it can be worn with any of your big sweaters, as well as something thinner for the fall, like either of these adorable dresses.
This Plum embroidered Geraldine dress and plaid Gabrielle cotton-gauze dress are the perfect on-the-go staples for college. Can’t picture squeezing into your jeans as you’re rushing to class? Slip this on and head out the door in no time at all. Every girl needs her fair share of casual dresses.
Every college student needs jeans. Dark jeans, ripped jeans, stretchy jeans. I’m pretty sure I’ll be wearing jeans 90% of the time, so thank goodness Lex & Lynne has such a wide variety to choose from. They are comfortable and they go with everything. I think it’s safe to say jeans are a must have college essential. We paired these dark wash jeans with this beautiful ombre Skull Cashmere sweater. Sweaters are another fall essential for college. They can be as plain, or in this case funky, as you want. They show off your style while keeping you warm; could we ask for more?
And If you want to add something special to your wardrobe, I highly recommend getting a leather jacket like this one from L&L. The look and feel of pulling off a leather jacket is empowering, and can really make you stand out on campus. Look badass while you stay warm!
And then of course, every girl needs her fair share of “going-out” dresses as well. After a long week of school and throwing on whatever you can manage to find that is clean, there is something cathartic about getting dressed up in your favorite “going-out” outfit and hitting the town with your girls… or maybe a special someone. Lex & Lynne has these dresses in spades, but my favorite was this Yeves dress. It hangs on your body in all the right places and gives you a subtle hourglass figure without the feel of a skin tight dress. The fabric is soft, and the long sleeves and gathered fabric around the neck give this dress a very cozy-fall feel. It’s perfect for when you want to look beautiful but don’t want to freeze your buns off.
L&L has amazing clothes, but it also has a wide variety of other college necessities that you can’t pass up.
These Kilim flats and snake skin Emy Mack heels would be perfect for any college-bound girl. Throw the flats on when you run to class. Slip the heels on for a party. Wear both for any occasion you choose. Either way, at least you have a cute pair of shoes.

I loved the bright colors of the fabric against the dark leather. With so many colors, the purse will go with everything. No need to migrate your miscellaneous yet necessary things. If you plan on studying abroad, L&L also has a beautiful leather traveler’s wallet. It comes in several colors, and can help keep you organized in the hectic whirlwind of traveling.
Lex & Lynne also has beautiful jewelry. I particularly like their new wrap bracelet and wooden bead bracelets with pyrite. The wrap bracelet is delicate and beautiful, with a gorgeous clasp, while the wooden bracelets are bolder. With a jewelry selection as small as mine, I’m glad there’s a boutique nearby with such a varied selection.
