Stepping into Lindsay Fouse-Hopkins' home is like walking into a storybook built on culture, color, and curiosity. Every object, every layered detail, is intentional... treasures from travels, pieces of history, mementos with soul, all curated in a way that reflects the energy of Lindsay and her husband, Greg. It’s not just beautiful, it’s imaginative. A space that invites you to dream and discover. Much like Lindsay herself. She’s one of those rare people who lights up every room, whose laugh is impossible not to catch, and whose passion - for her work, her community, her people - is felt the moment you meet her. I’m honored to call her a muse and a dear supporter of Alexis Co., and to share this glimpse into her world.
Lindsay is a trial attorney and partner at a global law firm where she represents local and multinational companies in complex commercial litigation matters. Her practice focuses on high-stakes business and contract disputes, real estate litigation and corporate governance and directorship matters. Lindsay is known for understanding her clients’ business and securing tremendous results for her clients. Lindsay has been at her company since she started her career – so over the years, she’s become a trusted and respected leader within the firm, known for her expertise, integrity, and unwavering commitment to her clients and colleagues.
You won’t catch Lindsay and her husband, Greg, at home for long – because their spare time is fully committed to enjoying and exploring everything life has to offer. You might find them hunting for hidden gems in the Pittsburgh food scene, traveling to another country to explore a new culture, supporting the local arts and nonprofits that are close to their hearts or showing up for the people they love as loyal friends and family members.
Tell us about meeting Lex...
Lex and I first crossed paths in the charming town of Sewickley, PA, through a dear, mutual friend - who also happens to be a fellow Alexis Co. Muse! I was relatively new to the neighborhood and my then-new friend Michaela, brain and heart behind everyone’s favorite local market and my cherished beauty matcha latte, invited me to join a get-together with her crew to celebrate a brand she loves – Alexis Co. I owe these friendships to the simple, kind gesture of an introduction and the magic of community.
The Alexis & Co. Sip & See & Sweaters event was in December of 2023 and was hosted by Lex at her lovely loft in the heart of Sewickley. I had never met Lex before, but when I walked in I was greeted by welcoming friends and family of Lex, gorgeous, eclectic racks of knits, sweaters, scarves and accessories, bubbly drinks and big smiles. I fell in love with her brand – each piece unique, full of warmth, vibrant colors and whimsical stories. Love and comfort is sewn into Alexis Co. fabric with each stitch.
A couple weeks later I dropped by Lex’s to pick up my all-time favorite sweater (which I describe later) and we talked for a long time. There was an ease to our interaction like old friends catching up. We talked about everything – grief, loss, love, hopes, ideas to make an impact, the treasures of health and family. I learned that Lex’s super power, among many, is that she listens with empathy to understand and makes people feel valued and heard. She’s got a kind heart and a pure soul – gifts which are so incredibly rare. Alexis Co. is a reflection of its owner and wearing her pieces is so much more than sporting a collection of super stylish knits, it’s a reminder that kindness, sincerity, and joy still have a place in the world of fashion.
What is your favorite piece in your collection and why?
My favorite piece in my Alexis Co. collection is the “Love Like Lindsay” sweater. Lex shared with me that her beloved sister, Lindsay, passed away years ago after a courageous battle with her health. I didn’t know Lindsay, but I gather that she was a beacon of strength, grace, and love, and it’s clear that her spirit lives on through Lex’s work.
I have four sisters – an identical twin sister, two older sisters who are twins and then a younger sister – yes, my parents had their hands full! My husband has three siblings in Columbus – so his parents were just as busy! We are all exceptionally close and we work hard to cherish the precious time we have together. The Love Like Lindsay sweater is a tribute to a beloved sister, so I honor Lex’s sissy and mine each time that I wear it. The sweater is a warm and gentle reminder that few things are more important than family, so slow down, be present and appreciate the ones we hold dear.
How do you give back to your community? Are you involved in any non-profit or volunteer work you would like to share? Do you serve on any boards or fundraising?
I am a firm believer in giving back – and using one’s gifts and talents to serve the community. My goal is to leave the world better than I found it. To that end, I’m involved in many initiatives to support causes that I care about as well as those most marginalized in our communities.
I am a proud member of the Board of Trustees for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. This cause is close to my heart because I’ve been living with MS since I was diagnosed in law school. Serving as a Trustee affords me the opportunity to serve those inflicted with the disease who don’t have the means to spread the word, advance the cause and otherwise advocate for themselves. I strive to add a fresh perspective to the cause, as a young, female professional living with the disease, and promote MS awareness through advocacy efforts that involve political outreach to move legislation and fundraising for research and more equitable access to MS treatments.
Thanks in large part to inspiration from Lex, I am also very proud to serve on the board of directors for The Lindsay Theater and Cultural Center, a film-based arts nonprofit, created to strengthen cultural, educational and entertainment experiences in western Pennsylvania. As neighbors to the Theater, Greg and I are longtime supporters and huge fans of everything this organization stands for. The Theater, with its state-of-the-art equipment and welcoming atmosphere, offers a wide range of films and genres – new releases, classics, documentaries, emerging works by local filmmakers, international and educational films, including art, museums, musicals, stage plays and music on screen. The Theater also aims to increase accessibility and inclusivity by offering sensory friendly screenings, open caption showings, audio description devices for visually impaired guests, aging series for elders and special programs to serve children and teens affected by economic challenges or transportation gaps.
I also serve as a member of the Board of Directors for the Edgeworth Club. The Club holds a special place in the Sewickley community, offering a space for connection, recreation, and social engagement. I’m grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the Club's mission, help shape its future, and work alongside a dedicated group of individuals who are equally committed to enhancing the Club's traditions and legacy.
I am proud to have initiated and lead a pro bono project called the Name Change Project which provides free legal name change services to low-income transgender and non-binary neighbors across the greater Pittsburgh community. This work is extremely impactful because it addresses significant barriers to equality, personal dignity and fundamental human rights. For many transgender people, having a legal name that does not align with their gender identity can create a range of challenges, from discrimination in the workplace to issues with accessing healthcare and education, opening bank accounts, or even traveling. These challenges can compound for low-income individuals who may already face financial instability and lack the resources to navigate complex and costly legal processes. This project is vital in fostering inclusivity, reducing discrimination, and supporting transgender individuals in their journey toward legal and social recognition, promoting greater equality and respect for all.
