One of my favorite ways to de-stress is to leave Los Angeles. There's something about getting away from all of the traffic, noise, and people of a city that refreshes my mind and inspires my creativity. However, sometimes my schedule doesn't allow for such opportunities to arise. In order to save my insanity, I've found a few mini "havens" that are within biking distance of my apartment.
The Venice Canals is one of them. Surprisingly, this mini oasis is only a few blocks from the craziness of Venice Beach and also serves as a point of history for Los Angeles. The canals were built in 1905 by Abbot Kinney to recreate the appearance and classic vibes of Venice, Italy. Now it serves as an area of prime real estate in West Los Angeles. It's one of those places that is over looked when visitors come to LA. If you want to skip the chaos of the boardwalk, head down Dell Ave. and get lost in the mini paradise.
It's a great spot to take a stroll during sunset, and remains amazingly empty. Plus, if you're a total nerd for architecture and interior decorating, this is the spot to check out some pretty amazing homes.
My boyfriend Max and I decided to go on a nice bike ride and photo adventure. We arrive just in time to catch the last light.
